Role Summary:
The Distributed Energy Solutions (DES) Architect will have high level of expertise in solution architecture and design of distributed and micro-grid system optimization and operability with experience in relevant control communication and automation technologies. The DES Architect will be responsible to meet all proposal deliverables associated with distributed energy systems in support of the project PPA guarantees to develop winning proposals by adding customer values.
Essential Responsibilities:
As the Distributed Energy Solutions Architect, you will:
Review the customer project requirements and be knowledgeable of the selected proposal technical solution strategy
Select the appropriate GE and outsourced products to develop the solution to fulfill the customer requirements
Produce the proposal content necessary to describe the solution, consisting of system platforms, equipment and services offered
Interface with vendors to define product requirements and evaluate offerings for technical compliance / value
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, sourcing, estimating, suppliers, partners and subcontractors
Ensure competitiveness (technical and cost) of the equipment and engineering services proposed
Support customer meetings and site visits as necessary
Develop proposal write-ups (equipment / Operability tabs)
Work with Sourcing & Estimating for costs distributed energy systems
Prepare Cycle Overview drawings
Prepare / obtain Operability Guarantee
Prepare deviations and clarifications for proposal book
Prepare Project Solution Control & Communication Operation architecture
Deliver System Integration for the Project On-Site Energy Solution as part of the project execution
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Electric Power Systems, Mechanical or other related Engineering field from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in energy industry application with focus on power generation and energy management systems
Minimum of 2 years of experience in one or more of the following domains: Microgrids Controls & Energy Management, DERMS (Distributed Energy Resource Management System), Substation Automation Systems & Technologies, and Energy Systems Controls and Communication
Desired Characteristics:
Master's Degree in Electric Power Systems, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline from an accredited university or college
Domain expertise in Distributed Energy Resource (DER) Portfolio Mix Modeling, Electric power system modeling, solution architecture design, Energy management contract modeling
Experience in sizing, dimensioning and pricing in multiple DER Assets in an integrated system operation environment (DER assets may include Energy Storage, Natural Gas, Biomass, CHP, Solar, Demand Response, Electric Vehicle)
Proven experience in plant innovation, communication systems and energy control systems
Self-directed / self-motivated with the ability to perform independently with minimal guidance
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong strategic planning skills
Proven ability to manage multiple overlapping projects
Proven ability to drive key projects to completion within and across a business matrix organization
