Operate various types of Caterpillar or other types of asphalt rollers to perform various types of work such as but not limited to obtaining compaction, ride ability and a smooth finish on all types mixes and thickness of asphalt lay down.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Operating an asphalt roller in the Raleigh, NC and surrounding areas.
Must be able to perform walk around inspections of equipment before operation and at the end of shift.
Being versatile in other types of heavy equipment is a plus.
Job entails being very productive in all aspects of private and DOT work.
Minimum Qualifications & Training:
2 year experience but will consider training with less training for a candidate that has potential.
Ability to understand roller patters and techniques of asphalt paving to obtain a finish product. Ability to learn and abide by proven paving techniques.
Maintain a good attendance and safety record.
Ability to abide by precise instructions and strict but necessary safety rules and policies.
Must be a reliable/trustworthy team player and maintain a good attendance and safety record.
Tasks Essential to Job Functions:
Occasional standing and walking required.
Ability to work long hours of time while sitting in the operator's station.
Ability to operate equipment at recommended speeds and peaks of operation.
Must be productive during each shift and be willing to meet the goals that are set.
Overtime work is required.
Visual activity - the ability to develop a mental picture of the finish product and then execute the necessary skills to productively complete each required task.
