Phia System Hardening Engineer in Morrisville, North Carolina
OVERVIEW: phia LLC is seeking a highly skilled System Hardening Engineerto join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Morrisville, NC.
Work within the CISO team to promote best network security engineering practices supporting this network while focusing on cyber device hardening.
Research problems and recommend solutions to improve system security posture
Drive policies and compliance in supporting the CISO.
Produce regular status reports.
Serve as resource supporting the Chief Information Officer through the team leadership
Contribute information technology hardening knowledge in improving the security architecture
Knowledge of industry standards including but not limited to:
NIST 800 Series
NIST Cybersecurity Framework
Vendor Best practice documentation
Other platform specific documentation
Must have a deep understanding of ports, protocols, and services and their interactions within systems
Must be able to methodically secure and harden enterprise level systems and platforms
Policy Oriented – Must be able to understand the effects and application of policy on enterprise critical systems
Deep understanding and established methodologies of securing technologies in all layers of the OSI Layer
Must be able to identify unnecessary processes and functions of a given system or platform
Constative Communicator – Must be able to effectively communicate technical knowledge and translate to business leadership
Skilled Writer – Must be able to communicate technical knowledge effectively through writing
Experience with large organization networks
Experience with regulatory compliance, policy development, and policy enforcement
Experience in the roles identified above
Experience with device hardening
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Computer Science/Computer Engineering, Engineering, Science, or a related field. Two years of related work experience may be substituted for each year of degree level education.
Experience with cyber security development projects and programs for U.S. Government and/or commercial clients
Experience with process development and deployment
Experience with and knowledge of network, security and IT best practices
Excellent writing skills
WORK SCHEDULE: Core Hours (8am-5pm; start/stop times flexible)
WORK LOCATION: Raleigh/Morrisville, NC
TRAVEL: Minimal; <5%
