Verizon Associate Network Engineer in Cary, North Carolina

What you’ll be doing...

This Network Engineering position supports the standard and custom Managed Services device certification process. This position will participate with the cross functional team and be responsible for understanding the requested certification requirements and determining the appropriate certification path. You will be responsible for the engineering tasks required to certify a device such as hardware and software configuration definition and installation, development of fault and performance management policies, definition of associated IT systems requirements, test case creation and execution, working with vendors to drive issue resolution, develop delivery /operational day 2 support documentation and training and provide custom bid responses for uncertified customer requested device. Ideal location is Cary, NC.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of work experience.

  • One or more years of network technology experience with knowledge of WAN and LAN services.

  • One or more years of network and performance management platform methodologies such as: EMC Smarts, CA eHealth, SevOne, Optanix.

  • One or more years of the OSI model and associated protocols, including the architecture and protocols associated with the following: TCP/IP, SNMP, SYSLOG, AAA, remote device management.

  • One or more years of virtualization and virtualization topologies and vendors.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree (Engineering or Computer Science preferred).

  • Two or more years of network technology experience with knowledge of WAN and LAN services including but not limited to performance management platform methodologies

  • Certifications:

  • CCNA, CCNP or equivalent experience

  • VMware

  • Openstack

  • Self-motivated individual with a positive attitude and good team development skills,

  • Strong independent work ethic; ability to self-learn and multitask on multiple projects/activities.

  • Strong problem solving skills including conceptual and analytical thinking.

  • Strong documentation skills using Microsoft and Google suite applications.

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
